The take-no-prisoners lead nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher) of the psychiatric ward of the Salem, Oregon, State Hospital is out to get everyone: Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, and the rest of the harmless misfits. The sheer evil she holds over her patients is still scary decades later. Her counterparts have evaluated Randle McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) and find no reason to continue holding him, but when it seems like McMurphy will go free Nurse Ratched chimes in bringing the release to a halt.
